Ben Okri's text is so apt for this new year's Cat! Glad you liked these words. The actual poem was published for the new Millennium in the London Times I read. Its a long poem and something of a call to arms...10 years on its still a good reminder! Happy New year Cat ... and all good thing in 2010! S
Renee... you certainly stirred up some energy in 2009. Your forlorn post about the difficulties of getting shown mid year was certainly addressed with spirit, gusto and enormous lateral thinking! I think you & your peers in their 20's are prepared to break new ground whenever and where-ever... as you have shown! Keep shining in 2010!
Dear Undercover Painter, I hope no matter how high your list of commitments elsewhere you keep bringing forth those painterly, sensual works I fell for and your writing on painting which is such a gift to us! Thanks for your lovely message and look forward to connecting in 2010!
The collage artwork is a true reflection of you and your art. The quote has been beautifully integrated and I concur that the earth id our brief home and we must tend to her lovingly.
Dear Egmont, What lovely comments - I actually put something quick together last night that was very different and thought... NO.. Not that! Instead I went back to this collage I worked on late last year when becoming accustomed to the Mac and loving all the new possibilities. I'd had little previous success on a PC - so the Mac was another universe entirely! A long held interest of mine has been working with image and text - so It is good to hear that it perhaps works for you. I find words can be so powerful that one wonders if imagery will detract or enhance. May 2010 bring peace and prosperity to you! Sophie
Hi Sophie Happy New Year! I'm just catching up with your posts of the last week. In fact, I started a comment and it's gone missing somewhere so if it turns up....never mind! Anyway have a great time housesitting. It sounds lovely and you sound excited. I'm also looking forward to what you have to tell us about the "land of the long clouds". (Mystified, intrigued.) All lovely posts as usual. Loved the post about Skye Gingell - I don't have any of her books either but I got to eat at P'sham Nurseries last year and I still dream of her food. As for your M. Kalman post, I like her work so much and couldn't agree more about books and gardens. Anyway, more soon! Happy 2010!
Thank you Julia. Adaptive mariners is a curious concept but nevertheless feels very true in relation to how global our concerns are now and the potential impact of changes we cant predict but that may well require all manner of adaptations in the coming years.... if not already! Best wishes for 2010 to you! S
Mlle Paradis, lovely to hear from you! I've just popped back in from house-sitting and it is going very well as is the painting in a different setting! I shall enjoy revealing the mystery to you soon - some will know that name... As for your sojourn to the Petersham nurseries cafe and tasting Skye Gyngell's cooking I am so envious /delighted for you! Glad that you found resonance in the themes f my recent posts...I am not surprised after often browsing your wonderful images and posts! Wonderful things to you in 2010 and I shall look forward to visiting more with you! S
