Miss Sophie, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE your studio blog. One of my personal pleasures is looking at the art people make. Finding out inspirations for work is even more of a luxury. Did you know that I used to sell fabric to Interior Designers? Also, my mother sewed all my clothes until I was 20 years old. We would always work together to pick out the fabics etc. I adore surface design and textiles. Thank you again for a wonderful insight into your world!
Janis.... your lovely words made my day! Truth is I did this work to enter a comp and late last night I thought Id completely stuffed up the online entry. After being lost in this work for days and days...without feeling like I could surface.... I was SO disappointed...so the world looked better when this morning the first thing I read was your lovely comment! Thank you ... S xo
Maryanne, so great to hear from you...much appreciated! S
Miss Mary, That poor old studio blog was looking very sad and lonely... finally something fresh to put up over there! Interesting you worked around textiles... Ive always been drawn to textiles from all over the globe... but probably its the ideas embedded in the work that is the real attraction... the symbolic value of the motifs... the stories! Thats a familiar experience to me as well... mother, sewing , choosing fabric.... thank you for taking time to visit over there ... much delighted! S
MP, thank you!!! and thank you!!! Wasn't expecting a 'Patrick'... thought maybe a little girl after the gorgeous William of 2 years ago! V happy though! S
Robyn, Thank you for wonderful encouraging words... was not sure where this work was going! Will be in touch v soon with you... S x
Hi Sophie, after seeing your latest piece, Seeds .... stories across time, over at Tumblr I had to hot-foot it over here to tell you how wonderful it is. My favourite Sophie Munns! Beautiful, beautiful piece!!
I'm delighted to read your words Robyn! Last year was such a dense and busy year the paintings never felt they had time to evolve. I look back and wonder how I actually did what I did! The luxury of only doing one painting for this month just passed has been great. I'm a very slow painter... certainly on larger works. I dont know at the outset what they are wanting to become... need that time for them to come into fullness. Im touched... thank you! S
