Coffee anyone? or perhaps a tea...

I've been painting frequently lately. Have found the rhythm between the various things on the agenda this year. Phew! It took  a while but now I'm feeling immersed in it all again.

Despite this still have not sorted the camera downloading function in the rush to attend to other tech/computer tasks. I'm a little disappointed thats dragging on...but sometimes there's just more crucial things to get one's head around.
A few bloggers even assured me they'd had the same trials over cameras... so... not to worry.
Sun's shining ...Ive got some writing and planning to do... that means coffee and somewhere to sit quietly and concentrate. Time to get out in the sun, go somewhere for coffee like the wonderful cafe below... with my planning notebook in hand.

cafe bouquiniste, 121 merthyr rd, new farm

These great pics were found at greenbeen blog. If you live in or visit these parts I think a visit to this wonderful blog is a very good idea... you will be taken on a tour of the cafes around the city and beyond... I can smell the coffee... the jazz playing in the background certainly sets the scene.
Another thing... our host is not only clever in the kitchen and with the camera but I LOVE that font she uses in the sidebar!
* Thanks D for permission to post your lovely images!

this image from another source!
Go visit greenbeen for more tips on where to go around these parts... I like the look of this one down the coast... Broad Beach is not far from Surfer's Paradise.

ps like this wiki bit on Proteas... note the south africa, australia and south america link!!

Taxonomy

The Proteaceae family to which proteas belong is an ancient one. Its ancestors grew in Gondwanaland, 300 million years ago. Proteaceae is divided into two subfamilies: the Proteoideae, best represented in southern Africa, and the Grevilleoideae, concentrated in Australia and South America and the other smaller segments of Gondwanaland that are now part of eastern Asia. Africa shares only one genus with Madagascar, whereas South America and Australia share many common genera — this indicates they separated from Africa before they separated from each other

I am so happy Merthyr rd has etained it's eclectic roots and has avoided the yuppification
that spread all over new farm like a fungus.

My ex hubby lives over that way and he wouldnt be caught dead there.

He only has coffee in one syllable cafes..

spoon, vroom, you know the ones...

hahaha..my word is "squair"

Great photos...feel a need to connect with my journal and coffee here in the neighborhood. We have some great ones here at this beach but now I can just imagine you sipping at your favorite spots. The coffee house is the greatest concept!

Oh goodie...
some people to go have coffee with... glad you've pooped in this morning! (or is it evening?)

Grrl... anytime you want to go to mutli-syllabic cafes with me you're on! yes... those "OO" cafes need some arty tinkering indeed... this one I've shown is in a league on its own ..but think theres a few others that could appeal.
squair... good word that!

Maryanne,
I'd love to see what's hiding in your neighbourhood... very curious about such places... they can offer a link to something beyond. Signs of life... that minimal look is often an excuse for people with no idea..!

Andrea,
yes... do come along... its amazing how that cafe hum can do wonders to help one concentrate at times... well...sometimes that hum is a cacophony ... but when its right...the hours pass and the work gets done.... love that feeling!
And thanks... its been good to find the new rhythm for painting after changes!

ciao girls,

Dayle,
it was great finding your blog... I had wanted to post photos on Bouquiniste for ages ... but it being so intimate one hardly wants to pull out the camera and go snap happy.
Yours were just perfect to borrow... and I'm so glad we made contact... Please do keep us in touch with the more hidden secrets of this city and region!
I've often noticed great art work in here too... and they do a delicious breakfast from their tiny menu... my idea of a good place is the menu is beautifully composed, even short!
Us locals will be glad for your quest!

Looks home-baked and delicious!
Lets pretend you're not on the other side of the world... and meet there tomorrow morning!
