"I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now." — Bob Dylan

Late Sunday night musings  after a long afternoon/evening in the studio with the radio for company ... found at the very evocative tumblr site ocean of mind . Some words and images to share with you .... its late! Im off now...the rain is falling, the night is a little chilly... just perfect for sleeping.
(of course... I had to start with a few words from the pen of Bob Dylan!)

'Let each one turn his gaze inward and regard himself with awe and wonder, with mystery and reverence; let each one work his own influence, his own havoc, his own miracles.'
Henry Miller

Oh soul,
you worry too much.
You have seen your own strength.
You have seen your own beauty.
You have seen your golden wings.
Of anything less,
why do you worry?
You are in truth
the soul, of the soul, of the soul.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

— Rumi

Sea Angels via Mapping the Marvellous

 A very quick post...
... have you heard of sea angels?

Sea angels (Clione limacina)

Sea angels (Clione limacina) – one of the images in Richard Kirby‘s new book Ocean Drifters: A Secret World Beneath the Waves featuring high-magnification photographs of plankton, the microscopic marvels that inhabit the sea around the British isles. They underpin the whole marine food chain, provide the world with oxygen, and play an essential role in the global carbon cycle.

If you pop over to the wonderfully named blog 'Mapping the Marvellous' you can read much more like this and explore the wonderful world of links to be found here to cartographers, journals, institutions, museums, marine and wildlife, natural history and life science, wunderkammer and more. Great visuals and brilliant links.

One link I visited just now was Atlas Obscura which took me here and here (a post from Apartment Therapy).

"The Tree" - a film based on the book "Our Father Who Art In The Tree"

Its a little late and I've just come in from the studio but I wanted to add a quick post in case you get a chance to see this film which I went along to last night.

------ Our Father Who Art In The Tree Book Cover
The book that inspired the film The Tree

Here's the first line from the first chapter of the book found at the film's website...

"It was simple for me: the saints were in heaven, and guardian angels had extendable wings like Batman, and my dad had died and gone to live in the tree in the back yard."

Below is Simone who's story is key to the book and the film.

The film is set in country not that far from Brisbane so the Moreton Bay Fig Tree and house featured in this film were quite familiar. These wonderful trees are a familiar sight around where I live.
I have only once before posted on a film here... so you can take it from me that the film was quite special!
Read more on the film here!

These journal pages and paintings were found here. I saved this about a month ago and am unable to recall how I came across this artist's work.  His Biography is in Polish so I cant offer much info there either. I was very taken with this strong work and have a certain affinity with the way the journals connect with the paintings.
